Meet your trainer

Hi, I'm Eric Triplett

I've proudly called Lorain home for years. I'm a disabled veteran and former Delta Force recruit, and I spent 18 years working in a maximum-security prison — experiences that shaped my patience, discipline and commitment to doing things right.

My true calling has always been dogs. I've been training them since 1987, and after an 8-year battle to secure VA approval, I became a certified professional dog trainer. I founded Buckeye K9 Academy to give my Lorain neighbors personal, top-notch training.

"Dogs are loyal. They don't lie; they don't cheat. All they want is a little bit of love."

What local dog owners are saying

★★★★★

"Arlo, before training, we couldn't even walk him without being terrified of seeing another dog or person because he was so reactive. Now we can take him into dog-friendly stores, bring him places with us, and he's overall living in such a better life. Eric is so patient, and he even helped us in between sessions."

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What happens on the free consultation?

Eric learns about your dog — their age, breed, personality and the behavior you'd like to change — and what you want them to be able to do. From there he recommends the training plan that fits. There's no obligation.

How much does training cost?

Every dog gets a custom plan, so pricing depends on your dog and your goals. Eric will go over the options and pricing with you on your free consultation. We keep our training affordable and community-focused.

My dog is older — is it too late to train?

No. Dogs of any age can learn new behaviors. Eric has worked with adult dogs struggling with leash pulling, reactivity and ignoring commands, and builds a plan around where your dog is today.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Lorain and work with families across Lorain and Cuyahoga Counties, including Lorain, Elyria, Amherst, Vermilion, Huron, Berlin Heights, Wakeman, Wellington, Medina, Brunswick, Independence and Cleveland.

Will I learn how to keep the training going?

Yes. Eric teaches you how to maintain the training at home, and he's available to answer questions while you practice between sessions.

What if I'm not happy with the results?

You're covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee — if you're not completely satisfied, we will do everything possible to make it right.
